new lines

Victoria LeFevre

I discovered this artwork on Facebook this morning.
Everything about it speaks to me.
The words, the colors, the placement of all of the pieces.

Taking a moment...

Taking a moment to brag on my husband!  I am blessed with a loving, hardworking  man. He has worked hard all his life, working many hours with rarely time off. Thankfully Dan was able to retire in 2012.  We fulfilled our dream of buying a cottage, a quiet place to get away...a place to relax, enjoy the view. Our plan was to enjoy time together on our pontoon boat, the view, the outdoors and Dan could enjoy fishing.

Despite getting older and health issues Dan works hard trying to keep up and maintain the cottage and the property. It is a never ending process, the list of things to get done between the house and  the property is ongoing.  The days are long. It's funny when some people hear we are going to our cottage they think we are going on "vacation".  It just isn't that way.  Sorry to burst any bubbles! LOL

Yes, we are blessed, we are so very thankful for our homes. Our cottage is a year round house, not just for summer. So, what we have are two houses,  two places to call home.  With that comes two sets of everything, both the good and the bad.

Dan works so very hard at both places.  I pray that someday he will be able to sit back, relax and yes...go fishing! God bless my dear Dan, I love him so.

sister

Yesterday my sister left, she moved away.

 She moved across country.
Her son, daughter in law and only grandchild live there.
I don't blame her a bit for moving after all she's been through.

I am happy for her and this new season, a fresh start, putting down new roots.
But we will all miss her and it will be so strange not to see her, not to have her close by.  I actually had to say my goodbyes to her a week ago,  because we were away the last few days
leading up to and the day she left.
It was weird saying goodbye and didn't seem like reality.
I am confident when I am get home and things settle down it will sink in that she has moved
and she is just not away on vacation.

be blessed sister
be happy

love,
your big sister

hello there!

OH, how I miss this place..
Mackinac Island.
My "Happy Place".
Dan and I were there for two days in May,
for our annual Celebrate Your Marriage Conference at the Grand Hotel.
I do believe I could live on Mackinac Island for several months a year,
lets say April through October!
But that's a dream!!

I am thinking of getting into blogging again.
I know I have said this before and didn't follow through.

Blessings to all!

laid up, plans cancelled

I was enjoying some gardening in our back yard...
working in my rock garden.
I stepped backward, mis-stepped somehow...
and took a little tumble, twisting my right ankle in the process.
I heard a "pop" and it hurt like crazy.
Glad we had those crutches in the attic.
Dan took me to urgent care.
After x-rays and examination I was diagnosed with a fractured ankle.
My ankle was splinted and wrapped.
I was given a RX for a few pain pills.
Arrangements were made for me to see an orthopedic doctor within the next few days.

Yesterday was my appointment at
University of Michigan Orthopedic Surgery Clinic.
More X-rays.
Awesome care, the whole staff  was fabulous.
They updated my crutches. Yay!
Thankfully the fracture is small,
so I am wearing a boot air cast.
I will be wearing it 24/7 the next 2 weeks.
NO weight-bearing.
Taking it off only to shower or to ice my ankle.
The ankle and foot are swollen and bruising is yellow in color.
I go back to see doctor in two weeks.
More x-rays.
At that time I will still wear the boot for another 4 weeks or so.
But I will be able to take it off at night while in bed.
And I should be able to walk on ankle, wearing boot of course.
This is my right ankle, so I can't drive till this boot comes off.

But, I am so thankful.
It could have been so much worse.
I didn't have to get a cast and surgery wasn't needed.
Thank you Lord!

Bless Dan, he has to do everything around here.
He is taking good care of me.
love him.

We had to cancel our yearly May trip to
Mackinac Island, staying at the Grand Hotel
for the Celebrate Your Marriage conference.
Anyone who knows me, knows how much
I love Mackinac Island and the Grand Hotel.
When I am there, I am in my happy place.
It is coming up May 21.
I was so sad to cancel.
But thankfully the hotel is holding our deposit for next year's conference.
Also Jay and Laura with CYM are letting us use our conference tickets for next May's conference.
Both of these are huge blessings!

So, here I am taking it a day at a time.
Blessed by God, Dan, family and friends.

a rainy day with beauty all around

On this cool, rainy day thought I would share a few treasures from the kitchen.

Monica Potter Home Lavender candle is burning, so lovely.
A vase full of lilacs from our yard, they also smell heavenly!

My son Chris sent me this pitcher vase filled with flowers several years ago.   I use it all the time!
The Monica Potter Home rustic barn box is holding little milk bottles filled with delicate wild violets.  The cute bird holding string came from the Monica Potter Home store in Garrettsville, Ohio.

Sitting on top of the box is my Dad's "work" bible, he carried with him everyday day at work.
I have my Grandma's diary from the 1950's displayed here as well.
Sharing the inside cover and first page of her diary.
So sweet.

Easter weekend

We had a wonderful time in Indiana with Kelly, Josh and Everett over Easter weekend!
 We ...
shopped, ate out, went to an antique mall, went to church, cooked and ate Easter dinner together, watched movies,  played with Everett,  walked the dogs, talked.
We...
made lots of new memories!

It was a lovely time seeing the kids and celebrating Easter!

It was Everett's first Easter and also our youngest grandson, Finn's first Easter!

 Here is Finn!
